Topic map
Each bubble is a topic, sized by how much of the published issues it takes up. Lines join topics that appear in the same article three or more times; thicker lines mean more often. Click a bubble to list its articles.
Trends
Share of each year's issue weight
Darker means a larger share that year; 2026 runs to October. The arrow compares 2026 with 2024.
Rising and fading topics
A volcano plot, as used in proteomics. Right means more common in 2025–26 than in 2024; higher means a clearer change (Fisher's exact test; dashed line at p = 0.05). Bubble size is the number of articles.
Covered versus requested
Published issues against open calls
Across: share of published issue weight. Up: share of open or announced calls that name the topic. Dashed lines at the medians.
Asked for more than covered
Above the median share of calls, below the median share of published issue weight.
Most crowded
Above the median on both: well covered and still being called for.

Method and limits
Special issues, themed series and collections on women's health published from January 2024 to October 2026 were found on journal and publisher pages across general medicine, neurology and psychiatry, menopause and OB/GYN, endocrinology, cardiology, public health and open-access platforms. Each article title was tagged with topics by keyword matching (the full keyword list is below); an article can carry several topics.
Issue weight gives every issue equal weight, split across its articles, so a single 100-plus-article collection does not dominate. Open calls are tagged from their published scope text.
Limits: titles only, not abstracts, so broad editorials are under-tagged; the trends describe what editors chose for dedicated issues, not the whole literature; 2026 is a partial year; several publisher sites (The Lancet, JAMA, ScienceDirect, AHA journals) could not be read automatically, so some issues are incomplete or missing.
